Lake Iseo is named after the town Iseo. The commune counts approx. 9’000 inhabitants and offers a very good infrastructure for tourists. There a many opportunities for shopping, walking (e.g. at the Lungolago) or just to enjoy and relax in one of the numerous Cafes drinking a delicious authentic Italian Cappuccino. Every Friday from 8-12 am there is a weekly market on the Piazza Garibaldi and the surrounding streets. From clothing and shoes to fresh vegetables and fruit you can buy just anything there and the vivid atmosphere is always wonderful to experience. Additionally there is a handicraft-market every first Sunday in the month and every third Sunday of the month there is a flea and antiques market.

On the Piazza Garibaldi there is the monument of Guiseppe Garibaldi (* July 4^th 1807 in Nizza; † June 2^nd 1882 on the island of Caprera). He was a famous guerilla fighter and one of the most popular figures of the Risorgimento, the Italian unification movement between 1815 and 1870. During the weekly market the monument is surrounded by market stands, but besides that you have an undisturbed view of the monument of this famous person – maybe over a glass of wine from the Francocorta region?

The Gelateria “Le Chiatte” is located in the Viale Repubblica and offers delicious homemade (produzione propria) ice cream. It is one of the best Gelaterias in Iseo – or maybe even the best. Ernesto works there from April to October and his portions are always very large!

The nature reserve “Torbiere del Sebino” adjoins the Iseo Lake in a kind of triangle bounded by Iseo itself, Provaglio d’Iseo and Corte Franca. For nature lovers this reserve offers a broad network of walking paths around the water area. One option is a circular trail of about 4 km length (duration approx. 2-3 hrs.) which leads through one of the most interesting swamp areas of the Lombardy region.
